Bug Storyline

Having escaped her abusive ex-husband Goss, recently released from state prison, Agnes, a lonely waitress with a tragic past moves into a sleazy, rundown motel and her lesbian co-worker R.C. introduces her to Peter, a peculiar, paranoiac drifter and they begin a tentative romance. However, things don't always seem as they appear and Agnes is about to experience a claustrophobic nightmare reality as the bugs begin to arrive...

According to 'Lynn Collins (I)' (qv), director 'William Friedkin (I)' (qv) never took more than four takes to get a scene in this film, and in fact worked so fast that the actors sometimes had to beg him to do a second take when he thought they'd nailed it the first time.
According to 'Ashley Judd' (qv), when she first met director 'William Friedkin (I)' (qv) at a social event, she complimented him on a scene in _French Connection II (1975)_ that she really loved, unaware that Friedkin had not directed it. According to Judd, Friedkin was very "gracious" about it.
The Apartment set was built inside a high school gymnasium in Metairie, Louisiana.
During the shoot, many of the crew members got rashes from bed bugs in their hotel rooms.
'Harry Connick Jr.' (qv) was cast when he happened to be sitting across from 'William Friedkin (I)' (qv) at a Las Vegas hotel opening, and started to "put him on" in a way that reminded Friedkin of the character of Jerry Goss.
