Jingle All the Way Storyline

Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as Howard Langston, a father who has promised his son that he will get anything he wants for christmas. Unfortunately for Howard, his son wants an immensely popular "Turbo Man" action figure. Howard forgets to get it, and since it's Christmas Eve, it's sold out everywhere. Since Howard knows he has let his son down in the past, he goes on a quest to track down a "Turbo Man" action figure, and will stop at nothing to get his son the gift that he wants.

Jingle All the Way goofs

FACT: When Howard runs into Ted and the reindeer, the reindeer's antlers are still in velvet. Velvet is shed in August, at least four months before the Christmas Eve setting.
CONT: When neighbor Ted Maltin first introduces Howard to the reindeer, Howard extends a bare hand and is almost bitten. However he is really wearing gloves on both hands, before and after the scene.
FAKE: When Howard first arrives at the Mall of America store for the late Turbo Man dolls, he is going down an escalator. Then, in the next shot, a crowd is shown at a toy store. You can see Howard in the crowd before he even gets there.
FAKE: When Howard is in the pay-phone booth at the diner, he was supposed to call "555-KQRS." He dials, "555" and then moves his finger to press the number "8" The letter "K" on a telephone is on the number "5."
FACT: As Howard is leaving his house to find the doll, Ted advises him to put chains on his tires. Tire chains are illegal in Minnesota, where the film is set.

Jingle All the Way trivia

Minneapolis does have a winter parade every year during the Christmas season. It's known as the Holidazzle parade, but it is held in the evening, not during the day as shown in the movie.
The film is based on the 1980's shopping frenzy over the Cabbage Patch dolls.
The Christmas parade was filmed at Universal Studios, Los Angeles, in the middle of May.
At one point Myron says, "Jonny Quest" when referring to well-known characters on TV. 'Robert Patrick (I)' (qv) voiced one of the characters in the _"Jonny Quest" (1986)_ (qv) TV series. Patrick played the T-1000 cyborg in _Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)_ (qv), alongside 'Arnold Schwarzenegger' (qv).
In March 2001, a U.S. District Court jury in Birmingham, Michigan, ruled that 20th Century Fox stole the script idea, "Jingle All the Way", from Detroit High School biology teacher, Brian Webster. The studio was ordered to pay $19 million, later reduced to $1.5 million. Webster submitted the script, then named "Could This Be Christmas?", to the studio in 1994 and never received payment or credit despite the film making $183 million. Fox appealed and the verdict was reversed, since Webster's script was submitted after the studio had already purchased a treatment (summary/outline) of what would become the film's script. The court acknowledged that it is not difficult to believe that two writers can independently create a plot using similar inspiration/experience.
