Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby Storyline

NASCAR stock car racing sensation Ricky Bobby is a national hero because of his "win at all costs" approach. He and his loyal racing partner, childhood friend Cal Naughton Jr., are a fearless duo — "Shake" and "Bake" by their fans for their ability to finish so many races in the #1 and #2 positions, with Cal always in second place. When flamboyant French Formula One driver Jean Girard challenges "Shake" and "Bake" for the supremacy of NASCAR, Ricky Bobby must face his own demons and fight Girard for the right to be known as racing's top driver.

When Ricky meets Reese Bobby for the first time as an adult Reese is drinking Laughing Clown Malt Liquor which is the sponsor of Ricky's car when he first becomes a driver.
The second NASCAR-based film that 'John C. Reilly (I)' (qv) has been in. The other was 1990s _Days of Thunder (1990)_ (qv), with 'Tom Cruise' (qv).
In the mini-documentary about Jean Girard, you can hear Gregory, Jean's husband, refer to the German Shepherds he is training as "Brigitta", "Marta", and "Rolfe the Nazi boyfriend". These are names of characters from The Sound of Music.
Jean Girad points out that the French gave the world the philosophy of Existentialism. Later he is seen reading L'Etranger (The Stranger), a famous 1942 novel, written by Existentialist writer Albert Camus, that included many Existentialist ideas in it, in his car while racing.
Jean Girard is said to have dominated the Formula One circuit, followed by a clip of the sport. The black F1 car which is supposed to be Jean is Gianmaria Bruni's Minardi Cosworth PS04B (now Scuderia Toro Rosso) and a backmarker, while the blue car following closely is the Mild Seven Renault F1 R24 of Jarno Trulli coming around to lap him at the 2004 Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring. Ironically, Minardi has never had a podium finish in its history.
